In this webinar, Sêr Cymru Professor Richard Lucas from the Living Wales project explores how observations from air and space can help us better understand environmental changes and plan future landscapes that collectively benefit the environment, society, economy and general well-being.

The recording was made on 22 July 2020 at the time of the live webinar.

Observations from above

Observations from air and space have played a pivotal role in documenting the ways that humankind has altered our planetary systems, particularly over recent decades. Data from satellites and aircraft can, however, be used more proactively to better understand the extent and impacts of past environmental changes and plan future landscapes that collectively benefit environment, society, economy and general well-being.

Professor Richard Lucas will showcase a new, easy to understand and scientifically robust approach that contributes to this ambition. The approach has been developed in Wales through the Living Wales project (with international collaboration) and provides a mechanism by which past and often adverse trends can be reversed.
