What you will learn

This course will give you the ability to decide if a wind turbine is suited to your needs, develop a cost benefit analysis and quantify the potential emissions reductions.

We’ll explore methods of wind data collection and analysis, quantifying the available resource of a site. Then, through a range of lectures and hands on sessions, we’ll look at turbine sizing and selection, positioning, installation and connection. The course will also cover basic wind turbine operational physics, focusing on 12/24/48V DC machines.

A basic knowledge of MS Excel (or equivalent) is desirable for this course.

Renewables for Households courses

This course is part of a series exploring renewable energy technologies for households. Each course can be taken as a standalone or as a series where they will equip you with the skills and knowledge to implement different renewable technologies in your home.
