Through a series of lectures, discussions, and practical activities you will learn alongside our postgraduate students on our MSc Sustainability in Energy Provision and Demand Management.

You will experience what it might be like to study on one of our postgraduate courses at CAT and gain invaluable knowledge and skills around existing global CO2 emissions related to energy provision and demand.

Who is this course aimed at?

This week is aimed at people who wish to have a taster of studying at postgraduate level at CAT and want to gain knowledge in sustainable electricity provision.

What you will learn:

You will be exploring the key aspects of global energy provision and demand in the context of CO2 emissions. You will also gain develop an understanding of future global energy provision and demand scenarios in short, medium and long-term contexts.

You will also explore the interconnections between Minority World and Majority World energy demand, provision and resource availability.

Topics covered include:

• Existing global CO₂ emissions related to energy provision and demand
• Applicability of emerging sustainable energy systems to Majority World nations
• Justice, ethics and responsibilities in global energy provision, including the role of states, corporations and the third sector in energy provision transition
• Environmental and social impacts of energy provision as experienced across international and interregional boundaries
• Funding and economics of global energy provision transition;
• Examples of technical and nature-based solutions

How will I learn:

Through pre-reading and some pre-recorded introductory lectures, live in person lectures, discussions, group activities and practical activities at CAT.

This short course is part of the teaching week for the MSc module International Zero CO2 Energy. Please be aware there may be some activities and content during the week only available to students, where an activity isn’t appropriate for the short course attendee, we will endeavour to arrange a replacement activity.

On the 28 June 2024 we will also be holding a Graduate School Open Day which attendees of the short course will be welcome to attend if they wish to find out more about our courses and studying with us.
