This bursary is set up in memory of Rose Jessica-Maia and is offered to new students starting on one of our Masters courses (Sustainable Food and Natural Resources, Sustainability and Ecology, Sustainability and Behaviour Change, or Sustainability and Adaptation), who have experienced or are experiencing mental health difficulties. The bursary will cover around half an MSc students tuition fees.

In 2020, the bursary was created to celebrate the life of Rose who died in 2018 aged 18. The bursary was launched in memory of Rose on the 12 December, 2020 what would have been Rose’s 21st birthday. You can read more about Rose’s story here.

Bursary applications for September 2025 are now open and close on 11 June 2025. Other funding opportunities are also available to new students including the annual Sir John Houghton Bursary, the Llwyngwern Bursary and The Ethel and Gwynne Morgan Trust Bursary. In 2025 we are also awarding 5 Widening Participation bursaries to new CAT students.
