Kalyani has a deep interest in sustainable living, reverential ecology, and is a keen hill walker. She lives in North Wales with her husband and young son.

Kalyani grew up in India and gained a BA(Hons) in History and Political Science from the University of Durham and a MSc in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

She continued to live and work in the UK and is an experienced social housing and charity professional with over 28 years’ experience of working in operational, strategic senior management, governance and business development in these sectors. She has a deep commitment to tackling inequality, promoting diversity and inclusion and has worked across the health,housing and international development sectors in tackling challenges to these.

She currently manages Oxfam’s Corporate Volunteering Programme and played a key role in developing Oxfam’s diversity and wider engagement programme.  Kalyani has extensive experience of being a non-executive Director on Social Housing and Charity Boards and is currently a Non Executive Director at the Muir Group Housing Association, based in Chester.
