Joel Rawson

Research Officer

As Research Officer, Joel supports the design, development and delivery of innovation labs, including contributing to research, analysis and write up of the outputs, and providing expertise across a wide range of topics relating to ways of addressing the climate and biodiversity emergency.

After first coming to CAT in to volunteer in 2001, Joel moved into CAT’s Information Service in 2003 and remained there for 20 years – most recently as the sole point of contact for the service. That role included providing free and impartial advice to varied audiences on a wide range of sustainability topics and writing articles and other content for CAT’s website, visitor centre, and publications.

The Research Officer for the Zero Carbon Britain Hub and Innovation Lab supports our Innovation Lab Manager in the design, development and delivery of innovation labs, including contributing to research, analysis and write up of the outputs. Joel provides expertise across a wide range of topics relating to ways of addressing the climate and biodiversity emergency, feeding into the development of workshops and resources for the lab, and also updating and developing our online Resource Hub.

Joel has a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture: Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies from CAT’s Graduate School and has also attended many short courses here on eco-building, renewable energy, energy conservation, ecological sanitation and more.

Outside of work, Joel is involved in a local community energy project and enjoys walking and cycling in the Welsh countryside.
