User Guide for Applied Adaptation Pathways
Zero Carbon Britain Logo

A useful guide for bringing the concept of adaptation pathways into practice.

The concept of adaptation pathways has been applied in many different ways. This guide was developed to provide a non-technical, user friendly overview of how to develop an applied adaptation pathway.

It specifies critical elements of an approach that can be used to undertake adaptation planning in your own organisation. While the approach described here is intended for implementation as part of a participatory process, it can be modified so that more quantitative inputs are used – thus enabling more direct guidance on decision making.

While developed to assist with climate change adaptation planning, the concept of pathways, and sequencing actions through time when external drivers are changing, can be applied to other areas of planning for long-term change.
