Farm Urban

Aiming to link leading scientific research with local food production, by developing efficient ways to grow food in urban environments using aquaponics.

With a mission “to grow food that’s good for people in ways that are good for the planet”, Farm Urban was born out of the University of Liverpool’s Life Sciences Department. It aims to take science fresh from the lab and implement it at farms in the heart of urban communities – to change both how we do science and how we farm our food.

Farm Urban develops and test the most efficient ways to grow food in urban environments, focusing primarily on aquaponics. The systems they use, along with the knowledge they acquire, will be made available for others who wish to introduce urban farms into their communities.
