The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Head of Development Eileen Kinsman and Finance and Operations Director Paul Booth as Interim Co-CEOs whilst recruitment takes place for the permanent position.
As members of CAT’s Senior Management Team, Eileen and Paul have helped lead the organisation’s success over the past few years, including the development of a new organisational strategy, the launch of CAT’s Zero Carbon Britain Hub and Innovation Lab, and the successful delivery of CAT’s environmental education work during COVID-19.
Eileen has been Head of Development at CAT since 2018, leading on the planning and funding for major projects, including the Hub and Innovation Lab and the planned developments of the CAT eco centre, and overseeing CAT’s fundraising, marketing, communications and policy teams.
She brings substantial leadership experience to the post, with previous roles including the leadership team of the National Library of Wales, the Wales Council for Voluntary Action, and many years’ experience in large charities, including Save the Children and Amnesty. She was first at CAT from 2001 to 2004, when she held the post of Administrative Director.
As Finance and Operations Director, Paul has overseen the development of CAT’s internal operations and has led on the financial management of the organisation since 2019, including successfully navigating the challenges of COVID-19 and helping build a more financially resilient organisation.
Paul has more than 30 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, most recently spending 18 years specialising in providing support and advice to the charity sector.

“The experience that Eileen and Paul jointly bring to this role makes them ideally placed to take on leadership of CAT during this exciting phase in the organisation’s development.”

The interim arrangement is expected to be in place for 6-12 months whilst recruitment takes place for the permanent position. Further details of this recruitment will be shared early in the new year.
