Join us for the first in our new series of free online webinars. For the first in the series, CAT lecturer Louise Halestrap will take you on a virtual tour of the water cycle from the sky to the sea, with CAT in the middle.
Our new series of free online webinars will feature different speakers, from our Graduate School lecturers to Short Course tutors, talking on a wide array of sustainability related topics, from energy and water provision to how we can create a zero carbon Britain.
Water Systems
Exploring CAT’s off-grid water system provides an incredibly useful way of exploring the story of water, as water moves through the site, from our reservoir, through our water treatment and eventually to the sea.
Louise will detail the whole water cycle, from water capture, cleaning it for drinking, and re-cleaning it after use before it enters the river and eventually the sea. There will be a chance to see what a low impact rural sanitation system looks like, and to explore the best systems for different locations and usage patterns.

Meet your tutor
Graduating from Aberystwyth University with a BSc in Environmental Biology, Louise has a passion for researching topics such as biodegradation and eco-refurbishment. She has worked in university, private and charity sectors on large scale composting and organics research and development.
She now teaches at our Graduate School of the Environment and supports students who are using distance learning.
