Workshop Overview

What Happens?

Pupils are guided to explore the quarry trail using their senses, recording their ideas and phrases to describe what they see, hear, smell and touch. Clear links are drawn out, age and stage appropriate, developing the skills outlined in the literacy framework. On reaching Ty Unnos, their ideas are shared and written as poetry in a collaborative way. The resulting poems are available to further develop on return to school as well as for display on the CAT site, celebrating the beauty of the surrounding area and the inspiration taken from this.

Location

The workshop takes place on the main CAT site and adjoining quarry trail.

Enrichment Activities:

Illustration of poetry written through a range of media including charcoal drawing, sketching, water colours as well as photography.
