Tim is a renewable energy specialist with extensive experience of the wind Industry. He gained valuable experience of ‘off grid’ living and working while working at CAT in the late 1990s. He has spent most of his working life in the world of renewable energy, mainly the wind industry. He is passionate about community renewables and education.

In the early 1990s, Tim started working in the fledging UK wind industry as a maintenance technician and this led to getting a job in the engineering department at CAT several years later. At that time, the site was still ‘off grid’ and he gained a huge amount of experience living with and maintaining off grid electrical and water systems. While at CAT, he also managed the long-term volunteer program for the engineering team and really enjoyed giving opportunities and experience to young, practically minded people.

After leaving CAT, Tim returned to the Wind Industry and worked in prototype development of large commercial wind turbines.

Tim has been fortunate to also work for local company Dulas Ltd (a CAT spin off company) as a Renewable Energy Technician and Technical Manager, covering Hydro, Wind and Solar generating systems.

In 1999, Tim helped set up Bro Dyfi Community Renewables Ltd based in the Dyfi valley, which owns and operates two commercial sized wind turbines and a ground mounted PV array on behalf of its shareholders.

In the recent past, Tim has taught on various short courses at CAT and since June 2025 was regularly volunteering at CAT before being appointed a Trustee in early June 2026.
