Whether you’re new to weaving or have several baskets to your name, this one day course will guide you through some traditional techniques in a fun, relaxing and nature filled environment. You’ll leave the day with your very own handmade willow basket.

What you will learn

Our expert tutor Pippa Scott will guide you through traditional techniques to make your very own beautiful rustic frame basket, based on the Welsh Cyntell and Irish Sciathog. The course is for anyone with an interest in basket making and traditional crafts and skills, no previous experience necessary.

Pippa also teaches a follow on course in November called Flat-bottomed Willow Basket Making.

Meet your tutor

Pippa is a member of the Basketmakers Association, and began willow basket-making in 1987, gradually moving on to sculptures, larger structures for gardens and growing her own willow for weaving. Pippa’s endless enthusiasm for the subject is highly infectious, making her classes enjoyable for people of all ages and experience.
