Join us at CAT on Friday 21 August 7:30pm for a FREE screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing – an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis and why it matters.

The screening and discussion is part of our wider Annual CAT Conference programme, which is taking place across the weekend 21-23 August. We are opening this People’s Emergency Briefing screening as a free, standalone event.

Mike Berners-Lee, professor, acclaimed writer and researcher on carbon footprinting, who originally chaired the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster, will introduce the screening. Mike will also be a keynote speaker at CAT’s conference.

After the film, there will be an open discussion and panel about what it means for our communities and what we can do on a local level.

National Emergency Briefing

During November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing took place in Westminster. Nine of the UK’s leading experts on what climate and nature breakdown shared what this means for health, food systems, national security and the economy, and briefed 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media, with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

The event was filmed and turned into the People’s Emergency Briefing – the 50-minute film now being screened all over the country and featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times.  The idea is to build a groundswell of demand for Government to urgently respond at scale to the crisis level threat situation we are now in.

• Free entry but limited spaces so please sign up in advance. You are encouraged to bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome. Though please note the film is not recommended for under 16s
